Ziad's Rating - 8/10
The last film made by Sergio Leone, who in my opinion is the best director of all time. While Once Upon A Time In America is not the best Sergio Leone film according to me, still its astonishing that how different he was from others. Leone only made 7 movies, but each has its own class and style. Now the film story revolves around the life of a man who was a gangster in his young age and he returns to the place where it all started for him. Slow pace film and a length of 3 hours 50 minutes is not some thing a normal movie fan can digest. But if you can find the patience to go through it, you would eventually start appreciating Sergio Leone's work. Robert De Niro is the main lead in this film & we all know when he is on screen, great acting, and interesting character is guaranteed. James Woods also gives a strong performance. Over all, if you are interested in witnessing an epic example of character development on screen and the transformations of different human approaches to life, its a perfect movie for you. Some of the scenes are so realistic that you wonder if its not a film, but real life telecasting. My personal favorite part of the film is the sequence when a kid holds a cake piece in his hand, which he is to deliver to some one else, but because he is hungry, he can't control himself and starts eating it gradually. There are many other strong moments in the film. Over all an epic effort by Sergio Leone and well acted on screen by Robert De Niro. Must see for serious movie lovers.
